invisible hair extensions

invisible hair extensions

Invisible hair extensions are a kind of extension method that involves a human skin like surface in which hair is attached one at a time. The strains of hair made this way are then glued directly to the scalp, giving it a very natural look.

This method is great for delicate hair as it doesn’t damage it, and also allows natural hair to continue to grow under the areas where theses extensions have been placed.

You can choose between synthetic or natural hair. The synthetic is cheaper and comes already styled, but it’s less versatile. On the other hand natural hair can be styled in any way you like (curl, straight or dye it).

They can last for up to two months if you take good care of them. This is if you wash them gently with a good quality shampoo and use a good conditioner.

If you decide to get invisible hair extensions, ask your stylist about the products he uses. Both the type of hair extensions and the glue used are important.

The best kind of natural hair is Remy. Remy hair is the premium type of hair in which cuticles haven’t been removed.

Also ask for a good kind of glue that’s not affected by moisture, perspiration or temperature variations.

Invisible Weave

One of the concerns of getting hair weaving is that it might not look as natural as one would like. That’s where the invisible weave technique comes into game!

Invisible waives are done by sticking little strains of hair to the root of one’s own hair.

The result is a very natural look with quite a lot of hair volume.

The following video shows very well how to do an invisible weave hair style.

Micro Braids

Micro Braids

Similar to invisible braids, micro braids are one of the most chic and fashionable hair styles available.

They are a very popular hair style consisting in weaving small amounts of hair to make narrow braided strands.

It is very important to take good care of your hair prior to having your micro braids done. Use a good conditioner and any other treatment of your choice to get your hair in top condition before braiding it. This way your micro braids will last longer and your hair will not suffer as much.

Another key factor that you should take into account is the ideal hair length for making this hair braiding style look great.

Shoulder hair length is perfect. If it’s significantly longer it will take you a lot more time to braid, and it will also increase the stress to the hair roots. If it’s much shorter the braids may not sit naturally and not look as good as they could.

In addition, mid length hair gives you the option to modify your hair style by taking the remaining non braided hair and using your creativity to make as many different looks as you want.

Cornrow Styles

Cornrow Styles

Traditional cornrows are made of straight rows of strains braided very close to the scalp, but in recent years cornrow styles have developed into very complex designs.

They are a very convenient hair style due to their low maintenance requirements. They can be left in for weeks as long as they are washed carefully and regularly oiling the hair and scalp.

It is also recommended covering your hair when you go to bed. This way the cornrows will last longer and the hair won’t look fuzzy the next morning.

They are also a good way to allow your hair to recover from stress, as they don’t require straightening or any other treatment.

If you’re thinking about getting your hair braided into cornrows, you have to make sure that you meet the minimum length requirements: for straight hair you need at least about four inches, and for curly hair just a couple inches minimum.

Invisible Braids

Invisible braids are very similar to micro braids, but in this case the hair is only braided for about an inch maximum.

They can sometimes be confused for tree braids, which basically are cornrows where several strands of the extension hair is left out.

They are also a good way to give your hair a break from damaging chemicals, but you will have to take very good care of them if you want them to last a few months. You can expect them to last for almost 5 months with extreme good care, but otherwise they will last significantly less.

Hair Braiding Styles

There are numerous hair braiding styles to decide from when it comes to choose your hair look.
Three strand braids, also known as English braids, are the most simple and probably the one that first pops up in our mind when thinking about braids. It’s fast and easy to make, and it’s very useful to get some experience before moving to more complex and modern braiding styles.
Fishtail or Herringbone braids are the easiest two strand braids, and they are a good way to practice for the more complicated French braids. They are a twisting-and-crossing type of braids, in which you take a little portion of one strand into the other every time you twist and cross them altogether.
French braids and Dutch braids are two similar braiding styles, and they really look more complicated than they really are. Unlike other types of braids, these starts at the crown of the head, and intermittently more hair is added to each section. French braids are also the basic technique to create African braids and cornrows.

In the end, your level of expertise and how much time you want to spend on it will help you decide what hair braiding style to go for.
